Growth Established: June 18, 2022  

Growth is the first piece I ever painted on a black canvas. I wanted to challenge myself to bring depth and light out of the darkness—something I had never done before. Unlike my earlier works, where I added black as a background color, this time the black was my foundation. Creating this piece taught me how to layer and blend colors to give my work true dimension and feeling.

This painting took three days to complete and was inspired by a piece I originally made in 2018 at a paint-and-sip event—the first time I ever freehanded a tree. In 2022, I revisited that concept from a new space in my life. I’ve always been drawn to nature and the universe, so I wanted to recreate the tree with more depth, presence, and meaning.

The tree represents me—its thick trunk and detailed lines symbolize age, strength, and the maturity that comes from experience. I painted this piece around the time of the Strawberry Full Moon, which inspired the warm, glowing tones in the moon itself.

The upward and downward triangles symbolize balance—my zodiac signs: Leo (fire) and Cancer (water). Together, they remind me that growth requires both strength and sensitivity. This piece embodies the evolution of my artistry and the personal growth I’ve embraced along the way.
