Psychedelics was created on September 3, 2022. Though it’s one of my smaller pieces, it holds a lot of meaning—it was part of my early experimentation with acrylic pouring.

For this piece, I used a cell activator, which created the tiny circular formations throughout the painting. It was my first time trying the technique, and I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, so I chose a smaller canvas. The result surprised me—the colors blended beautifully, and the cell formations gave the painting a lively, almost electric texture.

As I watched the piece develop, it gave off a “magic mushroom” and 1970s psychedelic vibe, which inspired the title Psychedelics. I loved the bold color mix—yellow, blue, green, purple, magenta, and lime green—and the way they danced together once the cells began to form. I later used the same small stick from a previous pour to create extra movement and detail.

Though small, this painting represents freedom, experimentation, and the joy of letting color take control.
